I was quite excited to get them because of how good they felt on my feet, but after doing a bit more research I'm getting the feeling I might be rushing into it and the idea of having to go back to square 1 and start looking again is a bit annoying. I guess I'm just looking for general advice/reassurance/warnings about whether or not I should go ahead with buying them. I see a lot of people talking about getting them resoled. I'm not really very good either and I'm reading that bad foot placement will accelerate the deterioration of them (or any shoe, I guess). However, I'm seeing a lot of posts saying these shoes don't last well, and I'm not really sure I can justify spending £100 on shoes that will only last 6 months. I tried on 4 or 5 different shoes last week and the Katanas definitely fit the best. I've only be climbing for about 8 months and I've had the same pair of cheap £40 ClimbX shoes this entire time. Size it perhaps a little bit tighter than your previous pair, and you'll notice the improvement without having to go for something you dont feel you're ready for. The Sportiva Finale may not be performance oriented, but the much better (and new) rubber compared to your current Tarantulaces will feel like a huge step up. I have the Katana velcro and Tarantula velcro in the same size. BTW, if you get TC pros, expect close to a full Euro size of stretch over time. Sized right, theyre both comfy enough to wear all day once broken in. If you keep worrying about comfort, just get something comfortable for now. Ive got TC Pros and Katana Laces and like the Katana Laces more for everything but Hand and larger size cracks. If the Vapor V's fit your feet they might be a slightly more comfortable option as they're not as soft (and also seem a bit more durable). I got used to it within a few sessions, and would never go back. The Katana's are way softer and they need to be sized tighter to be useful, so you will have to go down some levels of comfort.
